When you purchase a domain from Squarespace and email services from Google Workspace, you’ll need to configure your domain to work with Google Workspace services such as Gmail. Follow these steps to set up your Squarespace domain with Google Workspace, ensuring everything from MX to DMARC records is correctly configured.
Step 1: Verify Your Domain
• Log into your Google Admin console.
• Go to Domains and select Add domain.
• Enter your Squarespace domain and select it as a Secondary domain.
• In Squarespace, navigate to Domain Settings and choose Edit DNS.
• In the Squarespace DNS settings, create a TXT record for domain verification.
• Once verified, Google will automatically proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Activate Gmail
• On your Google Admin page, click Activate Gmail.
• Copy the MX records provided by Google.
• Return to Squarespace DNS settings and create new MX records.
• Confirm the changes after adding the records.
Step 3: Add SPF Record
To help prevent your emails from being marked as spam, configure the SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record:
• In Squarespace DNS settings, create a new TXT record.
• Enter:
• Host: @
• Value: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all
• Click Save.
Step 4: Set Up DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)
To prevent email spoofing, set up DKIM:
• In Google Workspace, go to Gmail and select Authenticate Email.
• Generate a new DKIM record.
• Copy the Hostname and Value provided by Google.
• Add this as a TXT record in your Squarespace DNS.
• After 30 minutes to 48 hours, go back to Google Workspace and click Start Authentication.
Step 5: Configure DMARC Record
DMARC helps you monitor and enforce email authentication:
• In Squarespace DNS, create a new TXT record.
• Enter:
• Host: _dmarc
• Value: v=DMARC1; p=none; pct=100; rua=mailto:[email protected];
• Click Save.
